Obesity = Disabled?

Obese have right to two airline seats – Yahoo! News
Since when did we start viewing obesity as a disability? Or a functional disability!?
The last time I checked:
obesity was not caused by an unfortunate accident
obesity and it’s severity are 100% preventable and manageable
obesity is not an ‘illness’ or a ‘disease’
I’m speechless.
So now we are not only viewing obesity as a disability but now we’re in essence ‘saving’ you money if you’re obese?
Hmm.

Well, your not exactly correct. Obesity is NOT just a personal choice.
I am not sure that it is a disability either, I know it can be debilitating.
Many people who are chronically obese have done nothing but eaten a normal diet. This kind of thinking (that there is only ONE reason a person could be obese) is the reason so many people who suffer with maladjusted bodies receive no help from doctors (who should know better). Thankfully my doctor isn’t like the norm, and recognizes that each body is different and needs tweaking to get the science of how that person’s body burn calories to function with how they are eating. My body chronically goes into fat storage with elevated exercise.
There are so many reasons that a person can become obese that had NOTHING to do with their personal lack of self control. I know that there are many who have eaten their way to “largeness”, but I know just as many who have not.
Having said this, I am not sure I want obesity to be classified as a dissablity, but it would be good if insurance paid for the treatment of it.

This is totally ridiculous. Fully agree with you on this Strong One. Obesity is purely down to the individual and the choices they make. You don’t get any obese people in third world countries where they have struggle to get enough food to survive.
