Say Thanks to our Troops this Holiday Season
Posted by Sean on November 27, 2008
I stumbled (no not StumbleUpon) upon this website this morning while doing my morning Google Reader ritual ( I have my bowl of instant oatmeal, my cup of coffee and I read my news/blogs/articles).
Xerox has a website where you can send a postcard to our military personnel over seas FOR FREE. The website gives you a list of pre-made postcards made from children from around America. You get to pick from a list of pre-made messages or you can create your own message to include in your postcard. Unfortunately you don’t get the designate the recipient of your postcard.
This is an all around GREAT thing. How better of a way to show our love and support to the men and women who are giving the ultimate sacrifice so that you can celebrate the holidays with your loved ones.
I checked the validity of this service here.
Do you have 5 minutes during this holiday season to thank those who are providing you with the opportunity to celebrate your holiday?
The Holiday season is the one time of the whole year we are the people that we always hoped we would be.
I Thank You
Carpe Diem

I’m doing this right now! Working with veterans makes me more patriotic that I’ve ever felt in my life. They deserve a little cheer around the holidays.

We are actually foregoing the whole Christmas ritual this year, and instead are sending all our gift money (and lots of other stuff) to http://www.soldiersangels.org
We sent out a note in our Christmas cards, and asked that our family send anything that they would have spent on us to them as well. This charity provides a gift package to each and every marine, soldier, sailor, and airman in Afghanistan and Iraq–that’s 180,000 gifts. Since my husband is a former Marine, both Dads are Vietnam vets (army and navy) and my brother is former Navy, we wanted to do something to honor their service, as well as something “out of ourselves” for Christmas.
It’s a great website, and gives ideas on lots of other ways to help the troops.
