Are You a Picker?

This has always been an interesting subject to discuss with friends, family ,colleagues… heck total strangers.
Some human beings have this tendency towards picking. I can’t just make a generalization, but most people fall into this elite group.
I think it started when I was a kid. LOL 
I’m a fair skinned Irishman. So as a kid the sun was not my friend. And of course like all other kids I hated sunblock. So I suffered the consequences. I think I had the sunburn suntan for most of my childhood life. I was either burned or I had the ghost-like look.
With the sunburns, came the aftermath of my skin peeling and flaking off. I loved peeling the skin.
Sorry this probably will gross a couple people out, but I loved removing the deadened skin.
It just snowballed from there. Everything from sunburned skin, to wounds, and cuts that left ‘scabs’. Then there were the blisters that healed over that had to be picked. And most recently I’ve been developing some wicked calluses on my hands from working out at the gym.
My father loves to poke fun at me for having ‘girly’ hands, or ‘sissy’ hands. This coming from the man who’s worked with his hands his whole life. His entire hand is one big callus.(That’s not an over statement)
I seem to always get the nasty ones at the base of my fingers where my skin folds from my fingers to my palm. They get pretty thick and pretty tough.
So me being the ‘picker’.. I gotta rip those puppies off. 
The above pictures are the result of me getting over zealous. I picked so hard at one of my calluses that I caused a darn skin tear at the base of my middle finger.
DAMN does it hurt.
And I can’t do anything but wait for the darn thing to heal. It’s in such an awkward place, so I can’t put a dressing or band-aid on it.
And oh yes, I keep irritating it and re-opening it at the gym every time I go back.
The only alternative is to were those cooooool looking work-out gloves. 
You’d think I’d learn

I am a total picker. I have a weird habit of picking my cuticles. I started in 1st grade and have tried everything to stop, liquid bandage,tape,superglue,bandaids,gorilla glue etc.

I fully admit it. I’m a total picker. I’m also a closet pimple popper…..like in a big way. I’ve never admitted that online ever before. I feel like I should post it on Post Secret.

Haha, I read the title of this thread and thought you were talking about those Alzheimer’s patients who are picking at the air like they are going to grab something.
