Patient’s “pain” whether real, just in the mind, or addiction to narcs is tough to deal with. Unfortunately, I cannot turn anybody’s addiction around within the time I have, what 12 hours? I don’t want to leave them withdrawing either. That may be cruel.

Obviously, if the patient is breathing 8 min/hour I won’t give anymore pain med even if he/she asks.

It’s not difficult to spot them. The ones that will tell you that the only drug that works for them is that hy-dro-co…done stuff, and then proceed to request a specific dosage… Yeah, the red flags go up.
