The Video Game Made Me Do It?!

Teen convicted of killing mother over video game – Yahoo! News

OK. Something is wrong with our society if this actually happens. Why do I vaguely remember something like this happening years ago? It had something to do with Heavy Metal.. and I think Ozzy Ozbourne.. and ‘Devil Music’ responsible for someone’s suicide? ( I could be way of base here)

I want to know how you can honestly believe a video game (or music) can be the source and/or cause for inflicting harm (loss of life). We human beings are more than just automated robots the last time I checked?

So he shot his parents out of anger because the video game he obsessed over trained him too well?? Brainwashed him ehh??

I’d love to hear your opinion on this one!

@ frogeyes10 I agree on all points, just not nearly as passionate about it as you. Thanks for the input.

That is piss poor excuse!!!!! If he had parents who spend some time with him instead of using a game as a babysitter perhaps this wouldn’t have happened! Dear god, our youth has not been taught how to interact with others in society or with their emotions so they think it is acceptable to mirror violent activity they have learned is appropriate. So now he will spend years in counseling and time behind bars for a crime that may have been preventable. What a wasted youth.
BTW…I was one of the Ozzy Osbourne fans and still am! The song was suicide solution and a teen killed himself while listening to the song and his parents blamed his death on the song. Feel horrible for the parents but the song is about a person who used drinking alcohol as a solution which in return in “killing” him and everyone around him. Not choosing suicide as a solution.
Boy your article/post touched a nerve!

  7. It’s a tricky one. Whilst I personally don’t feel videogames, music or films should be used as a scapegoat, when things like this happen there are some people who’s brains don’t function in a normal way. I agree that we are humans and not robots but I think a certain minority are genuinely influenced by these media platforms. The main issue here is that when things like this happen the focus is always on the media source. No attention is given to the possibility that the offender may have been mentally disturbed and that they do not represent the majority of the population.
