A long, long time ago I blogged about weight loss and the numbers game. I’ve said time and time again that losing weight really is a simple math equation:
WEIGHT LOSS IS A SIMPLE MATH EQUATION: GET RID OF AND BURN OFF MORE THAN YOU TAKE IN
Unfortunately if it WERE that easy, we wouldn’t have an obese nation on our hands. It seems that we (the public) still have a hard time grasping this concept. Lately there has been a wonderful statement going around the internets that echoes my same thoughts. It not only echoes, but it re-invents the take home message:
YOU CAN’T OUT-TRAIN A BAD DIET
In its simplest definition, it means, no matter how much you sweat, no matter how hard you train, no matter how much you ‘give’ with your exercise training program, if you keep eating and living an ‘un-healthy’ eating lifestyle YOU – WILL – NOT – LOSE – WEIGHT.
In fact, you may actually gain weight.
Bad food trumps everything else. I myself learned that the hard way.
I stumbled upon an awesome individual recently amongst the internets who has finally conceptualized this idea (visually) through video.
Craig Ballantyne, CSCS, MS is a highly educated and motivated personal trainer who is the founder of Turbulence Training. I fell in love with his thoughts, vision and programs the minute I heard the term “No to Cardio”. (I think everyone remembers how much I dislike any Cardio)
He provides a no-nonsense approach to training in quite a unique way. He promotes bodyweight training as well as some tough circuit training programs riddled with challenging Ab (Core) exercises. All guaranteed to help you lose that weight and tone your body without boring the life out of ya! (Which is what Cardio does to me!)
So I’m an even bigger fan of his after his series of Diet vs. Exercise videos that visually show you how: YOU CAN’T OUT-TRAIN A BAD DIET.
The following videos actually have a slice a comedy to them. I mean once you watch one of them you’ll understand.

OK, now you had to laugh during at least one of those videos. Such a STRONG visual representation of how what you eat trumps what you do, EVERY TIME
