How Is Sharing REALITY Going Too Far??

Posted by Sean on April 11, 2009

It’s no secret. For anyone who knows me, for anyone who has spoken with me, and for anyone who may have overheard me talking… I am 100% against smoking. (maybe 210%)

I have both personal and professional views on this subject, and each elicit the same response. What in the world is good/positive about smoking, and anything related to smoking?

Professionally I lost count on how many patients I have cared for that suffer from an endless list of horrible diseases that were the result of smoking.

Personally I have suffered great family loss at the hands of smoking’s effects on the human body.

I truly believe that knowledge IS your greatest asset and defense against a formidable opponent. So when ‘battling’ the world of ‘smoking’, you should know what the reality is. You should know what smoking does to you, to your health, to your family’s health, to the publics health. You should know everything there is to know about your actions, and the actions of others when you smoke.

No matter how gruesome.

No matter how visually and emotionally disturbing.

Life is not a movie. Life cannot be lived through rose-colored glasses, no matter how much you try.

Life is tough. Reality has a harsh sense of humor. And REALITY always gets what it wants.

So when we the public is exposed to and shown the REALITY of smoking, why are some member of society upset and disturbed by what is REAL? Why are they not wanting to see the TRUTH?

Ignoring it doesn’t make it any less real.

Hiding it or not acknowledging it doesn’t change its cause and effect.

Shoving it in the corner or under the rug won’t stop it from happening.

Smoking’s and all the horrible reality that goes along with it is not something we advocates made up. We are simply sharing the information as it its.

Reality doesn’t care if you like it or not. It simply just IS.

Diving Into BeTheNextStep.com

Posted by Sean on April 9, 2009

SunsetTandem

So it’s been a lil over 2 weeks now since my ‘coming-out’ party where I revealed me and my identity. If you missed it here it is.

Strong One = Sean Dent

What spurred this ‘party’ was me diving head first into being a wellness coach. I created a new website with pictures and info explaining my intentions and aspirations. Locally, I have been receiving a lot of inquiries and interest regarding information and advice on fitness, wellness, etc. So I thought what better way to share that information than through the Web 2.0!

During this initial explosion, when I created the new website, I thought I had to use the provided ‘cookie-cutter’ blog that was provided. I spent the past 2 weeks tweaking what could be modified and importing everything non-nursing to this new blog.

Last night I discovered all my efforts were basically for naught. Doh

It seems that I have the option to use an existing blog with my new website. I can change the setting’s and viola’! When someone clicks on the BLOG link on my new website… TA-DA they arrive here.

Now it may be a lil’ confusing, since visitors will be at the bethenextstep.com domain and when they click the blog link it brings them to mystrongmedicine.com link. But I think I’m going to take the risk at this point.

This way I can keep my original blog (which I still very much like), keep chugging away with my new website and project, and not have to worry about blogging to two separate blogs!

WHEW…Whew

So stay tuned for more excitement. I now will be posting more often again!!

Heard through the halls of the hospital by a patient the other day:

“Man, my mouth is as dry as a popcorn fart”

Who said health care wasn’t funny.

Since when did the act of ‘smoking’ make you a victim?

Posted by Sean on April 2, 2009

So.

‘Poor lil smoker’??

Now that the federal tax on cigarettes how almost doubled, those who smoke and have to make the astronomical purchase are feeling abused?

The last time I checked, smoking was a choice.

You CHOOSE to smoke, and you CHOOSE to make the purchase.

It seems to me, with this tax increase, people are starting to re-evaluate their priorities.

Things that make you go hmm..
