Say What?

Converse to please others, not yourself.

A conversation involves two people. One to talk and one to listen. Someone to deliver the message and someone to receive the message.

Regardless of the message, regardless of the intent. Please be sure you are not delivering the message to the wrong person.

Are you talking to communicate or are you talking to hear yourself speak?

It’s Not The 6 Minutes

Posted by Sean on July 21, 2009

This is a video clip from the movie Vision Quest. A great 80′s feel-good sports flick.

The just of this movie is about setting a goal. Striving for the goal, no matter how crazy everyone else thinks you are.

I won’t go into details about the scene, but it sends a strong message.

6 minutes…

6 days..

6 weeks…

6 years..

Time. The time you have. The time you’re given. The time you’ve earned.

Once you have the time, what are you going to do with the time you have.

It’s not the 6 minutes, it’s what you do in those 6 minutes that matters.

Be Afraid of Only Standing Still

Posted by Sean on July 20, 2009

standing_still_by_tiberiunedelea

I remember playing centerfield in little league baseball. The ground balls were always the worst. I never could judge when that ball was going to take that ridiculous bounce.

Stand and wait for it, the bounce will get you every time.

Move forward towards the ball and adjust your direction as you go and somehow the ball seamlessly found it’s way to your glove.

It never looked pretty, and I think luck had a lot to do with it, but moving forward always increased my odds of succeeding.

Instead of being afraid of the ball, a was only afraid of standing still.

It seems I’m worthy of following? I’ve been included in “200+ Health and Medical Accounts Worth Following on Twitter”. Check it out here.

I’m in the presence of some high quality people, so thank you to the people of at Medical Future for including me! I’m truly thankful and lucky to have met so many wonderful people.

I Twitter  (tweet) about any and everything under the sun, so if you feel like listening to some arbitrary rhetoric mashed up with some interesting findings regarding world news, healthcare and everything nursing follow me on Twitter here.

For those of you who’ve been with me for a while, you’ll notice I still have the old avatar up from my ‘Strong One’ days. I thought it only appropriate to keep the original avatar so that people can connect the dots.

Thanks for sharing my internets!

Driving While Under The Influence – This Will Get Your Attention

Posted by Sean on July 17, 2009

This is apparently a TV ad from Australia that puts a riveting ‘take’ on delivering the message of driving and drugs.
You’re out of your mind.
There should be more of this and these types of ads.
Plenty more.

My Orange Highlighter-like Childhood

Posted by Sean on July 16, 2009

OK. Showing my age here.

Who remembers Mercurochrome? Mom used this stuff on any and every injury I ever sustained as a child. Cuts, bruises, bites, sting, the list was endless. I can remember coming home after an active summer day and turning in for the night looking like a walking Orange Highlighter.

Am I alone on this?

I haven’t seen the stuff in decades.. check out the scoop on this dated antiseptic here.

Ahh… the memories.
