How's Your Scenery?

Posted by Sean on October 29, 2009

It really is the simple-themed thoughts that drive that nail through your fence. This concept really hits home.
Is your scenery changing?

*Sigh*

Loss is never easy.

It’s been a really tough string of days. I got the wind knocked out of me.. so me and my blog have needed some ‘away’ time.

Thank you to everyone who expressed their kindness. I’m ‘dealing’ with it one day at a time. I’m crying less and less every day. It just seems like a really bad dream.

I just want my heart to stop hurting.

To all my readers – Thanks for stickin’ around.

I’m down.. but not out.

It’s Better To Say Too Much

Posted by Sean on October 23, 2009

…then to never to say what you need to say.

I really hate how life teaches you things in reverse order. We learn life backwards, but we have to live life forwards. We always learn the lesson second, and live the experience first.

I would really love to have learned the hard lessons first.

That way I wouldn’t lose.

Do yourself a favor, hug those you love. Tell them you love them. Call those you love, tell them you love them.

Forgive everyone.

Accept everyone.

Attempt to regret nothing.

Life your life with love in your heart, and let love live in your life.

Life should never be so busy that you forget those you love, those who matter, those how ARE your life.

Even if they are across the nation, in a foreign country, or just down the block. Make it a priority to tell them how you feel. Be honest. But above all be there. Just be there.

I of course stole the opening line of this post from The Bucket List, one of my all time favorite movies.

Live your life with passion.

Don’t let life get so busy you forget to stop and smell the roses. Don’t let life get so busy you forget the people in your life who deserve your attention.

Getting the wind knocked out of you… can really change your perspective.

Nobody tells you it feels like a sucker punch to the gut.

Nobody tells you how you get blind-sided.

Nobody warns you about going numb.

Nobody explains how helpless you feel.

Nobody shows you how NOT to cry.

Being on the other side sucks.

So, how many times do you think a surgeon (or resident) has ‘wanted’ to try this?

Thoughts From The Night Shift

Posted by Sean on October 19, 2009

So I survived my first ‘rotation’ on the night shift. It wasn’t bad. Not bad at all. At least I think it was. I was really expecting to be drained. To be utterly exhausted like the last time I did nights (at my job that was 70 miles away).

It’s amazing how different things are when you get home at a decent time, and actually make it to bed on time.. and get the proper amount of sleep!

Go figure.

I will admit.. I still watched the clock. Even though I tolerated being up.. I sure didn’t LIKE it in any way. I still got that overwhelming ‘zombie-like’ feeling about half-way through my shift. Not sure if that will ever change.

Your mind plays some really crazy tricks on you when you’re tired.

I am still amazed at how some people can do this as their full time job.

Healthcare Reform? Putting Patients First

Posted by Sean on October 19, 2009

Do you have health care insurance? Do you care about health care insurance?

Are you planning on ever needing or using your health care insurance?

Do you think you’ll ever get sick, and need the services of a health care professional? A Doctor? A Nurse?

If you’ve answered yes to ANY of these questions … OR if you think you might.. then please watch this short video from Better Health.com.

LiveLeak.com – Healthcare Reform: Putting Patients First – Medblogger Event At National Press Club

Whether we like it or not Health Care Reform is an important topic than provokes and requires NO easy answer, NO easy solution. But ignoring the problem doesn’t mean the problem will go away.

I am just as guilty as the next person. I have chosen to ignore the obvious. What can you and I do to help make health care work with and for us, not have us work for them?

A large THANK YOU to Dr. Val over at Better Health and all that she is doing.
