People Of Walmart? Really??

Posted by Sean on November 7, 2009

This new viral site has been all the buzz within the social media circles and within my own personal social circle (away from the monitors and keyboards). I think it’s popularity stems from the common ‘What The F*’ thought process every time you see the public and their blatant disregard for proper public etiquette.

You have to give the guys who created the site credit for stealing a great idea. An idea that we all wish WE would have thought of!

Before it went insanely viral.. it was comical and down right entertaining. Now… I’m not as easily entertained. I’m now more ‘put-off’. I’m beside myself viewing some of these pictures. I can’t stop thinking, “REALLY? Someone actually left their house looking like that?”

I have a hard time grasping this concept, or wrapping my mind around this absurdity. Either these ‘people of walmart’ do not own a mirror, or they’re doing it on purpose.

I’m starting to lean towards the latter. I mean C’mon. Take for instance this one:

Wintery Mix | www.peopleofwalmart.com.

Really? Am I to believe this person actually looked at their outfit.. and thought… yep. I’m good to go. Let’s go shopping.

Here’s my theory:

I think the public is catching on to this site.. (or maybe the creators of the site are just as guilty) .. and these ‘people’ are purposely finding a ‘costume’ so-to-speak.. so that they can get on the internet? Or they are donning this costume.. and getting pics on this site just to generate traffic.

Is it a far-fetched idea?

Just my humble opinion.

At least this guy looks harmless-on the bright side, this bastard tropical love-child of an outfit should keep anybody from possibly running into this guy. There is a Wal-Mart in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota where the shoppers look so creepy and sleezy, I have had serious thoughts of coating my body in Penicillin before going there. Luckily, there is a Mills Fleet Farm that opened not far away, and even though it is kind of a red-neck crowd, at least they look like they practice some level of personal hygiene.
