2010 – Project 365

Posted by Sean on December 31, 2009

I have seen others doing something similar – like the photo a day with the iPhone. I’m liking my new Storm2 more and more – especially the camera.

This concept seems fairly easy enough. Take a picture a day and chronicle it, blog about it, twitter it, share it on facebook, etc.

Posterous is a wonderful application for this very thing. I can snap a picture and just email it to posterous… and viola’.

I think I will be taking on this lil project. If anything it will be a heck of a story timeline for the new decade!

While on the subject of my new phone – the Storm2. I must say I was really surprised at how much I like the ‘upgraded’ version of the original flop of a phone for me. It’s software is better, the transition of the phone between portrait and landscape is better, pictures are better, the sure-touch technology-clicking screen is much better.

The new case for it is also a winner.

I think for me this is my iPhone. Not sure if I’d ever buy/use/want an iPhone.. but this is the next best thing for me at least.

Big Grin

Happy New Year folks!

Spanking Children – A Necessity Or Not?

Posted by Sean on December 31, 2009

New Research: Why Never Spanking Might Be Worse for Kids Than Spanking Them – NurtureShock Blog – Newsweek.com

No I do not have children of my own, but I have my fair share of children in my life. So please don’t judge my opinion as false just because I have not had the blessing of raising my own children.

I find this article interesting because it drives home the one thing I have been saying all these years about ‘spanking’ or ‘disciplining’ children. I for one support spanking – but more importantly I support consistent disciplining.

then perhaps the consistency of discipline is more important than the form of discipline. In other words, spanking regularly isn’t the problem; the problem is having no regular form of discipline at all.

I was ‘spanked’ as a child. Discipline was always present in my household as a child.

I don’t think I’m the only one that has noticed the ‘out-of-control’ children and ”disrespectful’ youth that populate our streets these days. I often wonder if discipline or ‘spanking’ was part of their rearing?

Things that make you go hmmm. Thinking

The Holiday Hustle

Posted by Sean on December 30, 2009

Tis’ the season to be busy. Christmas blew by like the wind. I vaguely remember the day to tell you the truth. The first time in 5 years I had the day off (worked the day before and the weekend after)! So it was nice. Visited with the families, ate too much, drank too much. Fun to be had by all.

School semester ended on a great note – I got a 4.0. To add icing to the cake I scored a 100% on my term paper for one of my classes. For anyone who follows me on Twitter or Facebook you probably heard my belly-aching about that darn assignment quite often this past fall. I was pretty psyched about that grade. I busted my @ss with that paper.

This Spring semester will be a tad difficult to say the very least. I’m taking 10 credits! Whew. The really awesome part of this next semester? I graduate in May with my Bachelor’s in Nursing (BSN)!!!!! So this hellish-type semester will be all worth it in the end.

Work is awesome. I’m finding my niche, getting my groove back. It’s been a year since I was full-time in the ICU at the bedside, boy did I miss it. There were plenty of things I DID NOT miss.. but a ga-zillion things I truly missed. I love working with the patients, I love the adrenaline rush when things are going bad (not that I want things to go bad- for anyone!) but I love the thrill. I find myself quite the ‘code whore’ if you know what I mean.

My co-workers are the bomb. I actually have fun at work- imagine that. There are always drawbacks and negatives to ANY job, but the positives massively outweigh the negatives in so many ways. A great set of co-workers, a fair and pleasant boss, the docs (for the most part) treat the staff well and with respect. I’m lovin’ it.

Bloggin’ is as bloggin’ does. This blog has suffered a huge blow with me and my time. Most of my posts are quick whip-like anecdotes I find on the internet, or a brief jotting of thoughts that pass me by while I’m on the computer surfing the internet. I do apologize for that. The main reason for that is my other Bloggin’ gig. If you remember I now blog as the Male Nurse for Scrubs. I’m posting at the very least twice a week –and it’s all about nursing. So this blog takes a back seat when it comes to my nursing blog-thoughts. If and when I blog here, it’s leaning more towards fitness and health. Not that that’s a bad thing. It’s just what it is for now.

I’m really trying to make a good balance, but with school, the new job, the holidays, etc, the balancing act is harder than I thought. After this week school starts up in another week. So who knows where things will go.

I’ve given some serious thought to flashin’ my Scrubs posts here so that you can enjoy them as well. I don’t think I’ll be infringing on any copyrights as long as I site the proper source etcetera.. etcetera.

I hope everyone’s holidays have been safe and merry! Can you believe it’s going to be 2010! Wholly jeepers!

I wrote the actual date 2010 the other day at work and then again yesterday at work. Wow is that weird. I guess I’ll have to be more mindful when charting and writing – just like we all did at the turn of the millennium!

Who would-a thunk it.

Happy New Year everyone! Be careful out there.

Shopping At Wal-Mart – Dangerous

Posted by Sean on December 30, 2009

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Chattanooga police said a couple they believe tried to steal a cart full of TVs and a computer caused chaos at a Walmart. According to a news release, Officer Josh Wright was off duty when he saw a man trying to force his way past a greeter with about $2,000 worth of stolen goods Sunday night. Wright displayed his badge, but the man said it was fake and tried to force his way past him. Wright then tackled the suspect and arrested him.

Then the suspect’s wife, feigned a heart attack and said she did not know her husband.

After a witness told Wright the couple had been together in the store, the wife followed the witness into the parking lot and attacked her. The witness stabbed her in the arm with a pocket knife, and the wife had to be treated at a local hospital.

The male suspect was charged with theft over $1,000 and assault on a police officer. Charges against the wife were pending.

Gee I wonder if the ‘People of Wal-Mart’ captured any of this?

New Crazy Kick-Ass Movie

Posted by Sean on December 29, 2009

It never ceases to amaze me what Hollywood will come up with. This new movie seems to be full of off-the-wall action mixed with off-beat borderline comedy in the form of a pre-teen girl who can really whoop some you-know-what.

I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t be messin’ with this lil girl.
