Cutting back on TV viewing — the predominant culprit in adults’ sedentary behavior — could contribute slightly to the national weight loss effort, a small randomized trial suggested.
Do YA think??!!

So – what is so bad about being obese? How about high blood pressure? High blood pressure that can become so dangerous and debilitating to your body that it damages your kidneys? Take a look and listen to Grizzwald Chapman and what he’s battling now.
Chapman admitted to Dr. Oz that he ignored his high blood pressure and even refused to take medication for it for more than a decade. “Well, in the beginning I didn't take the blood pressure medicine, because listening to my friends, my friends told me, you know, if you start taking the medicines, you'll be on the medicine for the rest of your life. … I just kind of brushed it off and, you know, continued on my, my normal everyday life,” Chapman said on the show.
I’m honestly not quite sure how to feel? Should I feel sorry for him? Or is it a hard lesson learned?
Start taking care of yourselves people. Listen to your bodies. They’re trying to tell you something.

The latest installment of Change of Shift is up over at Emergiblog.
This is the ‘Lite’ version, or the ‘Holiday’ version of our beloved blog gathering. Life and the holidays outside of the internets has taken precedence, so this edition is short and sweet. Be sure to check out the latest edition of our beloved blog carnival.
Yepp… I lose. I once again failed to submit a post. I’ll have no excuse this next edition since school is out for the next month!
As always a BIG THANK YOU to Kim over at Emergiblog for getting the CoS party started, and keeping the fire going!
Carpe Diem

Stephen King to pay for troops’ holiday trip home – Yahoo! News.
My hats off to Stephen King. He’s donating a large chunk of money so that local troops from where he lives can make it home for the holidays.
If that doesn’t make you feel good – what will.
Way to go Stephen. Way to go.

Isn’t it amazing how everyone gets so comfortable in their own ‘present’ that they feel entitled and get upset when something doesn’t ‘flow’ the way they want?
How idiotic we all act and feel.
I am just as guilty as the next person to complain. Complain, moan and gripe about how ‘difficult’ or how ‘miserable’ something was simply because the standard I expected wasn’t met, or my spoiled lil’ world was shaken by an unplanned disturbance or ‘inconvenience’.
Do we ever stop to think how amazing our lives are? How lucky we are to live in this day and age with all the ‘conveniences’ and ‘amenities’ this world has to offer.
How quick and automatic we are to lash out when the ‘quick’ and ‘automatic’ doesn’t work in our favor.
Louis CK hits the nail on the head:
Take a step back and breathe in what you’ve been given. I think we all could use a lil’ more amazing and a lil’ less unhappiness in our lives don’t you think?

Penbrook residents face ultimatum over Steelers sign.
Since when did the 1st amendment have stipulations depending on whose side you were on?? Amazing.
*UPDATE* Seems the zoning ordinance violation has been rescinded. Funny how that works ehh?

When time = survival, anything that could streamline the process of fighting the battle against sepsis would and should be a valuable tool. Seems this new ‘Prove-it’ sepsis assay test might be a great addition.
Most tests that evaluate the possibility and the presence of a patient being ‘septic’ can take almost 24 hrs or more. This handy-dandy lil’ tool can do that job in a fraction of the time. Now of course it’s accuracy is not on the same level as the tried-and-true methods, but I think this might be something that could help deter the veracity or severity of sepsis?
The longer sepsis goes untreated the worse a patient can and will get. Sepsis is nothing to fool around with.
