the overall health burden of obesity has increased consistently since 1993, while smoking rates have fallen. So obesity has become "an equal, if not greater, contributor to the burden of disease as smoking

Sean, go overseas and then come back to the US, if you really want to appreciate how big we are as a nation.If money is too tight for that, just come over to the Minnesota State Fair in late August. Very large women in stretch pants, and very overweight men in shorts, or sagging their pants will make you wish you were Jose` Feliciano or Stevie Wonder.
