You probably think this post is about you….
I’m so glad I’m not ‘vain’. Or should I say, if I was vain – I’d be in a heap of trouble. Or worse, I’d be in even more debt than I already am.
It seems that Mr. Travolta does not share the same characteristic. I’ve read on the internet and have seen it plastered on the ‘celeb’ magazines at the check out counters. It’s all about him and his hair. He was officially spotted with his true head of hair. He’s balding.
OH MY GOSH! THE HORROR!
Seriously folks?
It seems that Johnnie boy is known for demanding re-shoots with his well-known hairpiece in proper form, and low and behold he gets caught with his pants.. uh.. I mean his hairpiece off.
I’m so glad I’m not vain about my hair line.
Boy I’d be in trouble.

New Movie: Take Me Home Tonight
Posted by Sean on February 26, 2011
As the summer of 1988 winds down, three friends on the verge of adulthood attend an out-of-control party in celebration of their last night of unbridled youth
I have to go see this one. The 80’s child in me must.
By the way check out this memory lane montage the cast did:
How many 80’s references did you get?

Does child rearing = public humiliation?
Posted by Sean on February 26, 2011
I stumbled upon this interesting article this AM (by the way.. I always use that term stumble upon – and I always think of the sharing website. LOL).
Apparently a mother is using public embarrassment as a last resort to teach her teenage son a lesson about the value of an education. I guess this mother has tried everything to get her son motivate in the classroom, and felt she needed to take some extreme measures.

Corner punishment is working, Mom says

TAMPA – A Tampa teenager has sparked an important discussion about tough love and where to draw the line.
“Until he straightens up his grades and gets his education on track, he’s going to work this corner,” said James Mond’s mother Ronda Holder.
Holder made him hold a sign that says he answered four questions on the FCAT and has a 1.222 GPA. The sign also read “honk if I need an education.”
James’ mother say all else failed, so embarrassment was the only way to convince her son that grades do matter. Many criticize, but others are less quick to judge.
“If a parent has to go that far, that means she’s crying out for help. She needs assistance,” said Glenton Gilzean, Regional Director of A Quantum Leap, a tutoring and education program for at risk students and their parents.
After hearing James’ story, Gilzean reached out to the family. Monday, he’ll start a free intensive tutoring and mentorship program with James, five days a week.
“To be honest with you, I saw myself in him,” said Gilzean.
Gilzean says at James’ age, he was a difficult student. Now, Gilzean holds a Master’s degree. He says the education system is an uphill battle for parents who have not been part of it themselves. He says his goal is to make the process less overwhelming.
“How can we help families navigate this whole education maize from birth through adulthood,” he said.
Gilzean plans to turn things around for James.
Meanwhile, his mother still has her critics.
“I got five kids. You don’t help your kid by tearing them down, you build them up,” said Bay Area man Gordie Nygard.
Psychologists do say the punishment could make the situation worse. The Department of Children and Families visited James’ home. But, Holder is standing her ground.
“He’ll be okay. In the long run, he’ll thank me for it,” she said.
Holder says her punishment is working.

What do you think? Put yourself in her situation. She’s desperate to get her son in a better place. To improve his future. I know, it’s extreme. But, don’t extreme situations call for extreme measures?
I’m on the fence with this one.
At least this mother cared enough about her son and his education to do something about it.

So. The question of the day…
Posted by Sean on February 25, 2011
Should I attempt to shovel the 3+ inches of snow in my driveway and walkway tomorrow? Or just let the warm weather / rain melt & wash it away on Monday??
Decisions… decisions…

A lil view into my world
Posted by Sean on February 25, 2011
So, if you’ve read anything I posted lately, it’s all about this dang-gummit weather. Well here are some snap shots of my day this morning. And no – I was not actually driving with the car in motion during these shots (I’m not that crazy/stupid).
It wasn’t pretty, and the last time I looked outside…. the snow ain’t stoppin anytime soon.
*sigh*
I hate this white crap. I really do.

So this other time…
Posted by Sean on February 24, 2011
Where I live…
We could never catch a break from this damn white crap.
The week so far:
MONDAY = drove through an insane amount of snow in a 4 hr period that was the most dangerous driving conditions ever (read my previous post)
TUESDAY = the weather warmed up so much and so fast that we had slight flooding
WEDNESDAY = it was as if the snow had never showed up this week? No snow on the roads. PERIOD
THURSDAY = rain, freezing rain, then a rainy foggy mist – topped up with a winter storm advisory
FRIDAY = another predicted 4-7 inches of snow.
Seriously.
