Working back to back shifts can be challenging, especially if the previous shift was exhausting. How do you recover from a rough shift to get back up and do it again?
The physical part is one thing. We all could use more sleep. But, how do you maintain your sanity seamlessly from one shift to the next? How do you reset your mind?
How do you cope? What sort of ‘self-talk’ do you have to gather yourself to rinse-and-repeat?
For me, I do three things:
1. Ask what was good?
2. Ask what was bad?
3. Ask how can I make it better the next time I show up?
