A Mixture of Thoughts

I thought this picture was perfect. It pretty much sums up what’s been going on with my blog the past couple weeks.

A mixture of thoughts –> which lead to a mixture of blog posts.

I was blogging about anything that crossed my path. If I read it, I shared it. If I saw it, I shared it. I not only shared it here on my Blog, but I was sharing my content via my Posterous page, as well as my Tumblr page, then it was rolling over into my FriendFeed stream, which lead to a lot of tweets on my Twitter account.

I didn’t even mention my Swurl page.

The reason for my post is I have a whole lot of random bloginess going on. And a whole LOT of repetition going on. Is anyone getting sick of it? Am I double talking a lot? Am I double posting?? Am I a repeat content offender?

I love sharing all the stuff I come across, but I also don’t want to detract from my blog. I really like the life it’s starting to take. I still blog plenty about nursing, and very rarely about fitness (although I have one ready).

I guess I’m being critical of myself. My Strong Medicine has been more My Strong Shtuff.

I’d love to hear my readers opinion? Keep doing what I’m doing? Are you liking what you’re seeing? Are you tired of the random shtuff I’m sending? Should I get a lil more focused?

I need some input. Please leave me a comment, even if you normally do not. Please let me hear your thoughts

Because in the end it’s you, my readers, that are ultimately affected.

Thank you as always

Random Bloginess

Posted by Sean on January 13, 2009

So yesterday was an eye opener. It’s amazing how much I keep learning.

My blog is slowly starting to take on a life of it’s own. I can’t seem to hone in on one sort of ‘theme’ on my blog posting. Sorry I couldn’t be more consistent. I have this tendency to blog about what moves me, inspires me, or simply lights me up (whether positive or negative)

Writer’s block is in full force these days. So I’ve recruited the help of a fellow blogger to help me over the hump. Lisa over at Driven to Distraction is in my humble opinion quite the MeMe master. So I’ve asked her for some tips on participating in some Meme’s. I thought it might help spark some stories. If anything you’ll get to learn just a tad bit more about me. (Look out!)

I’m also using Posterous a whole heck of a lot more for posting. It’s a great tool for posting and sharing anything additional to your blog, and the blog by email feature is the SHIZNIT. I use the email feature to share Mad Props I find throughout my day. And of course there is the ever-so KEWL Twitter feature that makes it all the more lovable!

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the life of my blog. Good? Bad? Missing something? Should I get rid of something? Am I blogging too much? Too little? (I’m striving for an average of 7 / week. 1 a day is hard, so I sometimes spit out 2 or 3 in one day)

I’m always wondering what causes you to pass by my lil’ space on the internet? How can I keep you coming back? How can I get more people to join the party?

I love blogging. And I love seeing more reader. And I love getting comments.

How can I accentuate and increase what I love?

Lookin’ forward to hearing from all my awesome readers!

Thanks for being a part of my blogosphere and tolerating my shtuff!

Have a Great Day!

Twitpic vs. Posterous in the Twitterverse

Posted by Sean on October 19, 2008

So I decided to do a lil’ experiment yesterday with my twitter account. I’m starting to post more pictures while on twitter, and I wanted to see what’s the best way of doing it?

I’ve been using Posterous for all my pics until today, only because I simply forgot about the Twitpic service. Raised Eyebrow

Each service offers the ability to upload a picture to a website, and then the website in turn sends an automatic tweet via your twitter account to Twitter as a tweet with a shortened URL link to the picture you uploaded. (wow.. that’s a mouthful)

This is accomplished by simply ‘emailing’ the picture you desire to a specific email address which is provided by each service.

I must say I was surprised and disappointed.

I have listened (sorry- watched) on Twitterland(or Twitterverse if you so desire) how some users have had a lag time between sending the post to Twitpic and actually having it show up as a tweet. I believe Beth (PixelRN) has tweeted her frustrations about this.

I posted the same picture to both services. Posterous tweeted my pic almost instantaneously. Twitpic took almost 20minutes.

I’m not sure what determines the efficiency of the post, or the upload of the pic, but Posterous won by a landslide.

Here’s the breakdown:

Twitpic:

  • slow turnover time between upload email and actual tweet
  • ability to comment on the actual pic (on the Twitpic website)
  • your comment can be accomplished on the actual site, or by replying to the tweet

Posterous:

  • virtual instantaneous tweet after uploading your pic
  • annoying confirmation email sent to you after your pic is uploaded
  • your tweeted reply will not show up as a comment
  • more than just a pic uploading service to twitter – can do mobile blogging and more!

I’d love to hear your thoughts on these services, or any others that you may use to post pictures via Twitter.

Happy Tweeting!
