Scalp stitching?

Posted by Sean on April 24, 2011

OK. Once again, mayyyyyybe I’m a lil’ biased here. But is having hair sewn into your scalp by a robot really worth it? Can one be that egocentric? Or that vain?

Seriously folks, being bald is not only beautiful (biased opinion remember), but it’s common and quite socially acceptable.

Do you want your scalp treated like a piece of cloth??? Ouch.

FDA Gives Robots Permission to Sew Hair On Your Scalp

Balding sucks. But will you trust the machines to repair your scalp? The FDA does, which is why they approved this piece of robotery to perform hair transplants. It’s name is ARTAS, and it lives in your dermatologist’s office.

If you have straight hair that’s brown or black and you want more if it, you can sit in ARTAS’ lap, at which point it will massage your scalp (along with a few "dermal punches" thrown in for good measure). A year later, you’ll have a scalp full of healthy hair, or so the story goes. But if we can’t trust a robot to throw a damn baseball, should we trust them with our precious hair? [Engadget]

Where are society’s priorities?

Posted by Sean on April 7, 2011

It seems I’m just one confused citizen.
-begin rant_
How can a ‘rapper’ who publicly admits to illegal activities be rewarded with more money (in the form of record sales).
Don’t worry folks. No need to follow the law, or pursue higher education, just be able to string words into a sentence, make sure they sort-of rhyme and you’ll be fine.
If you can make yourself look like a miscreant and a thug, it would probably help you ploy. And of course condoning or partaking in illegal activity will up your ante.
The less you contribute to our society, the more you will benefit.
Things like this just piss me off folks. Here I am busting my arse to elevate my education and quite honestly try to improve the lives of others (as a nurse) and I’ll never be ‘rolling’ in the dough. Neither will the educators of our society.
This pot-smoking fine citizen here on the other hand will make 4X as much as me in one year alone.
And you wonder why we have the problems we have.
*sigh*

ATLANTA – With a blond streak running up his uncombed Afro, rapper Wiz Khalifa leans back in his chair seemingly without a care in the world, as the aroma of marijuana rises from his gray sweater.

This is a snapshot of rap’s newest sensation.

“Weed is just my thing,” says the 23-year-old, whose latest album, “Rolling Papers,” debuted this week at No. 2 on the album charts with more than 198,000 copies sold, putting him right behind Britney Spears.

“I smoke because that’s where my mind belongs. It’s better for me. I hear music clearer and differently. It makes my writing much more enjoyable. At the end of the day, I don’t depend on it. I’m just one of those people who like to be high all the time.”

Some say the 6-foot-4 Khalifa, who skyrocketed up the charts with his omnipresent hit “Black and Yellow,” reminds them of a younger version of Snoop Dogg, a rapper who he idolizes. They’re both tall and lanky; they also have a fondness for marijuana with carefree attitudes. The older rapper has taken Khalifa under his wing, and they’ve even recorded together.

“He’s sort of taken some inspiration from Snoop as this lovable pothead kind of dude,” says Elliott Wilson, founder of the hip-hop Web site RapRadar.com. “He gives off good energy. He laughs a lot and cackles on the track. He seems like a personable dude. He’s already built his core audience and now he’s trying to reach a different audience too — and bring them into the party.”
